Captain Cook State Recreation Area

This area has been used for commercial fishing with beach set nets. Visitors can ejoy sighting moose, bears, coyotes, wolves, beavers, muskrats, beluga whales, harbor seals, rainbow trout, silver salmon, arctic char, bald eagles, sandhill cranes, trumpeter swans, Pacific and common loons, golden-eye ducks, mergansers, thrushes, warblers and jays. Activities here includes boating, kayaking, beachcombing, bird watching, berry picking, riding ATVs, bow hunting, fishing, hiking nature trails, swimming, searching for agate along the beaches, ice fishing, driving snowmobiles and cross-country skiing.
